MIND TRIP

First time I saw this I found it a little bit boring, a visual phantasy about ancient symbols. Until the claim appeared. Re-considering it after that, I can say it's quite brilliant. Welcome in the Medieval Mind.

The Medieval era was a weird and wonderful time, where they believed in dog-headed beasts, where beautiful architecture was pioneered, and where the populace endured the ravaging effects of the Black Death.

Beliefs were wild and varied, and it probably felt pretty bizarre to be alive during those times.

That’s where the creative work of RKCR/Y&R comes into play. They agency's creative team has developed a sumptuous visual feast of Medieval imagery from inside the mind of a Medieval man... on a trip.

The result is reminiscent of US TV channel HBO's opening titles for 'Desperate Housewives' and, to a degree, 'Rome'. But it's good to see the agency flying the flag for Blighty.

The story behind the music is equally as noteworthy. Take Jimi Hendrix’s iconic track “Purple Haze”, re-arrange it on medieval instruments (viola de gambas, hurdy gurdys and lutes, for those in the know) and set the whole lot in time to the animated extravaganza.
