TV IS NOT DEAD, GOOGLE ADMITS

Cosa che prova, come dice Adage, 'The superb Super Bowl stats are just the latest in a string of ratings rises for big event programming, from the Emmy Awards, the Golden Globe Awards, the Grammy Awards, the CMAs and others that prove once again that network TV's crisis of confidence isn't an issue of the media model, but the media itself. With the right content, under the right conditions, broadcast can be as big as ever.'
E un responsabile Google ha dichiarato che volevano "to share our favorite one with as many people as possible,".

SUPERBOWL ADS. WHICH IS THE BEST?

E stavolta sono in fondo i film Doritos: 'Three "winners" proving once again that what consumers generate in their ads is mainly vulgar and trite'.

PASSION, NOT ABILITY

Mark Wnek

"He/she is a really great presenter." It's something I hear more and more often these days. Seemingly the primary quality sought in an agency creative chief is the flair with which he or she delivers a new-business pitch.

Really? I have a confession to make: I'm a rotten presenter. When I think about the creative directors whom I most admire, they are all average presenters at best. Where their talents lie is in producing brilliant, effective work for their clients.

Most (me included) are no oil paintings. Many drink too much and throw tantrums. Mostly, they shouldn't be allowed out unaccompanied by an adult. Which reminds me of Baudelaire's definition of genius: the ability to recapture childhood at will.

The most important quality that all good creative directors share is a passion for great work. And passion isn't always pretty. Often it is messy, inconvenient, and un-house-trained. It doesn't always fit in an expensive suit or smart sports coat. It doesn't furnish its possessor with client-friendly savoir-faire.

When I present work I'm passionate about, I fall to pieces. I stammer and sweat and shake. I drop scripts. I spill coffee.

It's terribly embarrassing. But at least it's authentic. After all, creatives are not politicians. Nor are they actors. New business pitches are not meant to be vaudeville. Great work should be the only eloquence necessary. Everything else is flim-flam.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Mark Wnek is chairman-chief creative officer of Lowe, New York.

Un commento:

Mark it sounds to me like you're a pretty good presenter.

ADVERTISING IS NOT THE BEST JOB IN THE WORLD

Predica finita.

YOUTUBE AND ADVERTISING

Ogni giorno vengono visti 1,2 miliardi di video su Youtube. Ogni giorno. Non molto, secondo le stime più aggiornate: 'RampRate - scrive AdAge - analyzed all the things that go into delivering video content -- YouTube's server farms, co-location facilities and "peering" agreements with global networks and ISPs and cable operators such as Comcast -- and concluded that YouTube, which streams more than 1.2 billion videos a day around the globe, is paying only $83 million a year to deliver that data. Earlier this year Credit Suisse estimated it was $375 million.'.

WHO HAS WON THE SUPERBOWL? THE HERBERT BROTHERS

INTERACTIVE JUMBLI BILLBOARD - TIMES SQUARE

Clear Channel Spectacolor has launched an electronic billboards that's fully interactive 24 hours a day. It now looks down on Times Square's heavily trafficked Broadway ticket booth, beckoning queued-up customers to play the SMS-activiated game, Jumbli. From Advertising Age.
Jumbli is an interactive text messaging game that pits players from all over the country against each other. Users can play on a screen directly through a Facebook application! The object of the game is to make the highest scoring word using the letters on the board in the fastest amount of time.
